These terms apply to every Shop Makers gift card issued in the United States, whether you bought it in our Seattle store or online through www.shopmakers.us. United States gift cards are issued by Shop Makers Pike LLC, 106 Pike St, Seattle, WA 98101. Gift cards issued in Canada have their own terms at www.shopmakers.ca/gift-card-terms.

1. No expiry, no fees

Your gift card never expires. We do not charge activation, dormancy, inactivity, maintenance, reload or any other fees. The full amount you paid stays on the card until it is spent. This is required by the federal CARD Act and by Washington's gift certificate law, and we apply it to every card we issue.

2. Where you can use it

A gift card issued in US dollars can be used at the Shop Makers store in Seattle, Washington. It cannot be used at our Canadian stores or converted to another currency.

Gift cards can be used to buy any goods sold in a Shop Makers store. They cannot be used to pay vendor membership fees or other amounts owed to Shop Makers by a maker.

3. How to use it

Present your gift card code at the register. The purchase amount is deducted from your card balance, and any remaining balance stays on the card for your next visit. If your purchase is more than your balance, you can pay the difference by another payment method accepted in the store.

4. Balance checks

You can check your balance at any Shop Makers store or by emailing the store where you shop. Your code is on the card or in the gift card email.

5. Cash redemption

Gift cards are not redeemable for cash, except where the law requires it. In Washington State, if your remaining balance is less than $5.00 you may ask for it to be paid to you in cash at the register. If you live in another state whose law gives you a right to a cash refund of a small balance, we will honour that right.

6. Lost, stolen or damaged cards

Treat your gift card like cash. If a card is lost, stolen or damaged we will only replace it or restore the balance if we can verify the original purchase from our records, for example from the sale receipt or the email address the card was sent to. Anyone who has the card code can spend the balance, so keep it safe and do not share it publicly.

7. Online gift cards

Gift cards bought through our websites are processed by Squarespace and delivered by email to the address you give us, usually within an hour of purchase. Check your spam or junk folder if the email does not arrive, then contact the store where you shop or use the contact form on our website. Please make sure the recipient email address is correct; we cannot recover a card sent to a wrong address once it has been spent.

8. Returns of goods bought with a gift card

Returns and exchanges are governed by our Return Policy at /return-policy. Where a refund is due for goods paid for with a gift card, the refund is returned to a Shop Makers gift card, not paid in cash or to a bank card. Earrings, food products and body care products are final sale.

9. When we may void a card

We may void a gift card only if it was issued in error (for example a duplicate or a technical fault) or was obtained or used fraudulently. Where we void a card we will try to contact the purchaser at the email address on file and, if the card was paid for in good faith, reissue the balance. We will not void a card because of the passage of time or because of a low balance.

10. No resale

Gift cards are for personal use and gifting. They may not be resold, auctioned or used for advertising or promotion without our written permission. We may refuse to honour cards we reasonably believe were obtained in breach of this section.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Changes will not remove value from a card you already hold, add fees or add an expiry date. The current version is always at /gift-card-terms.
